Pompeii

Our group trip to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast was unforgettable. I was so grateful that FSU planned trips each weekend to help us explore different cities around Italy. Seeing Pompeii in person was an experience like no other. Walking around such historical grounds took my breathe away. Our group’s guide was so knowledgeable and gave me a first-hand experience I would have never gotten before.- Victoria, PA Summer 2019

POMPEII

Pompeii is located about a half-hour south of the city of Naples, and was an ancient city, known worldwide as it was completely buried in 20 feet of volcanic ash from the explosion of Mount Vesuvius, in 79 AD. The ash carbonized and preserved a large portion of the city, freezing it in that moment it was covered, allowing visitors today to get detailed insight and an extraordinary look into the past and what daily life consisted of nearly two thousand years ago.

Students will walk through the streets of Pompeii and into the houses of its inhabitants. They will learn what daily life was like, from the main nerve of the city, the Forum, to the leisurely area nearby, the forum thermal baths to the villa of mysteries with amazing preserved frescos still adorning its walls.
